Udhayanidhi Stalin's second film Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal (IKK) is gearing up for release on February 14. Udayanidhi and Nayanthara play the lead roles in IKK directed by SR Prabhakaran. The film has been censored with a clean 'U' certificate.

IKK however has been denied entertainment tax exemption despite the film being eligible for the same. Denial of the tax exemption would result in a 30 per cent loss from the collections. Notably, this is not the first time that Udhayanidhi’s movie has come into the non tax exemption category despite getting a clean U certificate. Previously, his other projects – namely Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Neer Paravai and Vanakkam Chennai also faced similar verdicts.

Udhayanidhi who is upset about the rejection of tax exemption for IKK has filed a case at the court seeking the formation of a revising committee to evaluate whether the film deserves entertainment exemption or not. The court has issued notice to the Commissioner of Commercial Tax of Govt. of Tamil Nadu seeking explanation as to why the film wasn’t granted tax exemption.
