Moviecrow exclusively reported the May 8 release plan for 29 earlier, and the makers have now made it official. Filmmaker Rathna Kumar returns to direction after Gulu Gulu (2022) — having kept busy in the interim writing dialogues for blockbusters like Master and Vikram.

29 is a romantic drama led by Vidhu and Preethi Asrani, set in a pre-dating app era where old-school romance ruled. The supporting cast includes Master Mahendran, Avinash, Shenaz Fathima, and Premkumar, among others.

On the technical front, Sean Roldan scores the music, Madhesh Manickam handles cinematography, and RS Sathish Kumar edits. The film releases in Tamil and Telugu, produced by Kaarthikeyan S under the Stone Bench banner — the production house founded by Karthik Subbaraj and Lokesh Kanagaraj's G Squad.
