Actor Dhanush has not taken off his director's hat in recent times, and after directing his 50th film Raayan (2024), and next generation new comers in Nilavuku En mel Ennadi Kobam (2025), Dhanush is gearing up for the release of another self directed movie, Idli Kadai. 

Idli Kadai is Dhanush's second film this year following his Telugu outing Kuberaa (2025), and Dhanush's fourth film as a director. Idli Kadai releases marking the Ayutha Poojai government holiday in Tamil Nadu, and has a two-day opening advantage since the following day is also a holiday marking Vijaya Dasami/Gandhi Jayanti.
