Sivakarthikeyan’s latest release Madharaasi has kick-started its theatrical run on a highly positive note. Despite a relatively low pre-release buzz compared to his previous outing, Madharaasi has recorded an impressive opening box-office.

According to early estimates, Madharaasi grossed around Rs. 12 Cr. on day 1 in Tamil Nadu. This marks an excellent start for the A.R. Murugadoss directorial, especially given the film’s build-up relied largely on content, and word-of-mouth rather than aggressive pre-release hype.

Madharaasi looks set for a solid opening weekend collection for now. Sri Lakshmi Movies has also updated that the BookMyShow ticketing app alone saw a whopping 600K+ ticket sales for Madharaasi in all languages. 

Also starring Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal among others, Madharaasi has Anirudh Ravichander for music, and is currently running in theaters in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and in Hindi as Dil Madharaasi.
