Vaa Vaathiyaar is an upcoming action comedy written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy of Soodhu Kavvum (2013), Kaadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016) fame, and starring actor Karthi in the lead fun cop role of Inspector Rameshwaram. Studio Green Productions has now officially announced that Vaa Vaathiyaar is set for a December 2025 release, though an official announcement on the Vaa Vaathiyaar release date is currently awaited. 

With Krithi Shetty playing female lead, Vaa Vaathiyaar pays homage to late actor politician MG Ramachandran (MGR), who earned the nickname 'Vaathiyaar' after the Vaangaiya Vaathiyaar Ayya song from his movie Nam Nadu (1969). Karthi, Nalan Kumarasamy's Vaa Vaathiyaar also stars Sathyaraj as villain, Rajkiran as Karthi's MGR loving grandfather, Karunakaran as a cop, Anand Raj, among others.

The technical crew if Vaa Vaathiyaar includes Santhosh Narayanan for music,  George C. Williams for cinematography, D.R.K.Kiran for production design, Vetre Krishnan for edits, ‘Anl’ Arasu for action, Vishnu Govind for audiography, Vivek, Muthamil for lyrics, and Sandy / M Sherif for choreography.

The post-theatrical Vaa Vaathiyaar OTT rights are with Amazon Prime Video streaming platform. Phars Films is the overseas distributor of Vaa Vaathiyaar, while Think Music holds the audio rights.
