Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie has been enjoying a strong run across Karnataka, registering impressive numbers over its first 6 days. The film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and produced by Sun Pictures, has grossed Rs. 36.4 Cr. in the state, making it one of the highest performing Tamil films in recent times in the Karnataka market.
Factoring in the 30% entertainment tax levied for non-Kannada films in the state, Coolie's nett in the first 6 days stands at Rs. 25.48 Cr. Monday saw a noticeable dip compared to the extended Independence Day weekend, but Coolie has managed to sustain a solid hold especially in key urban centers like Bengaluru, Mysuru. Coolie's day 6 collection is reported to be Rs. 1.07 Cr, a massive spike from its Day 5 collection.
The Karnataka market has traditionally been a stronghold for Rajinikanth, and Coolie with Kannada star Upendra in a key role, has helped cement Rajini's box-office dominance with over 1050 shows across the region.
