Coolie Sees Sharp Decline at Monday Box Office After Massive Weekend

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie dominated the Independence day box-office over its extended opening weekend, but the film saw a significant dip on its first Monday across all versions, including the Hindi Coolie: The Powerhouse.

While the drop was anticipated after four consecutive strong days, in which Coolie went on to become the first Tamil film to record the highest opening weekend gross of Rs. 404 Cr+, and made Rajinikanth the only Tamil star to have three movies with a Rs. 400 Cr+ gross collection, the sharper-than-expected fall has sparked discussions on how Coolie will fare in the coming weeks.

Day 4 (Sunday): Rs. 100 Cr.

Total India Nett: Rs. 203.86 Cr.

Day 5 (Monday): Rs. 9.36 Cr. nett

By the end of its first four days, Coolie had amassed a staggering Rs. 203.86 Cr. nett in India making it one of the biggest opening weekends ever for a Tamil film across languages. In comparison, Coolie saw a massive dip from this number, collecting just Rs. 9.36 Cr. nett at the India box-office.

Coolie: The Powerhouse, the Hindi dubbed version of Coolie, showed a sharper decline than the Tamil version on its first weekday run in India. The Hindi total after five days stands at approximately Rs. 20 Cr. nett.
