Mani Ratnam directed Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR, Trisha among others was the second Tamil film to release in the D-BOX format in USA this year. After its theatrical run, Thug Life has made its OTT premiere on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages on July 3, 2025. 

The same Thursday, it was officially announced that the Lokesh Kanagaraj directed Coolie starring Rajinikanth in the lead is the third Tamil movie to release in the D-BOX format in USA. D-BOX is a premium cinema format that adds motion and vibration effects to a movie theater seat, synced precisely with the action on screen. 

D-BOX creates an immersive, 4D-like experience with a control pad available to adjust intensity of motions on the seat, or even turn it off entirely. As of 2025, D-BOX is available in select screens across Cineplex, AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and other premium chains in USA.

Suriya starrer Kanguva was the first Tamil film to release in D-BOX in November, 2024.
