Bollywood star actor Aamir Khan is making his Tamil debut with a cameo appearance in the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, a movie set to release in theaters on August 14, 2025. Coolie is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Aamir Khan is also doing a whole another project with the Tamil filmmaker.

Spilling details on the same, Aamir Khan stated in a recent interview, "Lokesh and I are doing a film together. But this film will be made next year (2026)...Right now he (Lokesh Kangaraj) is going to shoot for Kaithi 2 (starring Karthi)...So next year second half..in September 2026 (is when the Aamir Khan - Lokesh Kanagraj movie will begin)."

In an earlier interview, Aamir Khan had revealed the genre and scale of his movie with director Lokesh Kanagraj by stating, "Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It's a superhero film - a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further."

Aamir Khan also has revealed details about Coolie, his maiden film with director Lokesh Kanagraj. "My character in the film Coolie will be interesting. Everyone will like this character." Kannada actor Upendra who plays an important role in Rajinikanth's Coolie had previously revealed that he has combination scenes with Aamir Khan in the film.
