Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan celebrates his 70th birthday today, and marking the same, a teaser of his upcoming home production Thug Life was unveiled. A Mani Ratnam directorial, Thug Life is a multi-starrer with names like Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nasser, among others in it.

It was officially announced that Thug Life release date is June 5, 2025 (Thursday) along with a high octane teaser. Thug Life release date teaser was also unveiled in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, with AR Rahman's background score.

Kamal Haasan is seen unleashing fury as his older self, whereas one too many frames in the Thug Life release date teaser seem reminiscent of Nayagan (1987), the only other Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam film to exist. Kamal Haasan's younger look in the movie is also quite close to his Nayakan look from 38 years ago.

While Nayakan had Kamal Haasan play a character named Sakthivel "Velu" Naicker, Thug Life with script co-written by Kamal Haasan, has the star actor playing Rangaraya Shakthivel Nayakkar. This and the newly released posters and teaser video, hints of a connection between thw teo movies, Nayakan (1987), and Thug Life (2025).
