Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose among others is an upcoming biographical war action film, that is based on the life of Chennai-based Indian Army Major Mukund Varadarajan, who lose his life alongside sepoy Vikram Singh in a fateful Shopian encounter. Amaran is scheduled to release in theaters on October 31, 2014 marking Diwali, and the movie's trailer is out now in multiple languages. 

Amaran Tamil trailer was unveiled by film's producer Kamal Haasan, whose banner Raaj Kamal Films Production has backed Amaran alongside Sony Pictures India. Amaran Hindi trailer was unveiled by star actor Amir Khan, while Amaran Kannada trailer was unveiled by Shivarajkumar, Amaran Telugu trailer was unveiled by Nani, and Amaran Malayalam trailer was unveiled by Tovino Thomas.

Written and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy of Rangoon (2017) fame, Amaran follows the life of Mukund V who went from a promising soldier of the Indian defense to receiving the Asoka Chakra, India's highest gallantry award, posthumously. Colonel Amit Singh Dabbas, Mukund V's Commanding Officer has narrated the late Major's stint at Kashmir in a 14-page chapter titled 'I Got Hit, I Can't Believe It' in the book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Millitary by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
