While shooting for the film Coolie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, Superstar Rajinikanth underwent a planned procedure and was hospitalized due to the placement of a stent in his abdominal region. While the actor is out of the hospital now, and is basking in the success of his latest release Vettaiyan, Lokesh Kanagaraj recently updated that Rajinikanth is now all set to get back to Coolie shooting.

According to director Lokesh, Rajinikanth will resume Coolie shooting from October 16, 2024 (Wednesday). Lokesh Kanagaraj has also said that Coolie was planned to be completed within six months of shooting, and there is no change in it so far. 

A Sun Pictures production, Coolie with Anirudh Ravichander for music is touted to be a action thriller based on gold smuggling. The movie also stars Shruthi Haasan, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubhin Shahir, Upendra among others.

Rajinikanth plays a character named Deva in it, and the film plans to release in 2025.
