A joint production venture of Disney+ Hotstar, Navvi Studios, and Farmer’s Master Plan Production, Vaazhai written, directed and co-produced by Mari Selvaraj is a Tamil language children's drama that has been running to packed theaters since August 23, 2024. 

A heart wrenching story set in 1998, Vaazhai is inspired by true life events and Mari Selvaraj's own experiences growing up. The movie chronicles, through the story of a lost childhood, the struggles and aspirations of raw banana plantation workers. The film is currently gearing up for a digital premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar streaming platform, and Vaazhai's OTT release date is September 20, 2024.

Starring tween actors Ponvel M. and Ragul R. (also played the young Dhanush in Raayan), alongside actors Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, Karnan Janaki, Dhivya Duraisamy, Pathmen, J. Satish Kumar, Nivedita Rajappan, among others, Vaazhai has Santhosh Narayanan for music, Theni Eswar for cinematography, and Suriya Pradhaman for edits. 

Vaazhai was made at a measly budget of Rs. 5 Cr., and is estimated to have collected 7 times that amount at the box-office worldwide. Vaazhai comes with a runtime of 2 hours and 14 minutes.
