After unveiling character posters of Coolie's cast, makers Sun Pictures revealed Rajinikanth's character poster and name from the Lokesh Kanagaraj directed movie. One of Rajinikanth's most famous films is the Mani Ratnam directed Thalapathi (1991), where star actors Rajini and Maamootty played the iconic friends Surya (a character inspired from Mahabharata's Karnan) and Deva (raj) respectively.

Now, Rajinikanth's character in Coolie is named Deva. The Superstar's character poster has him holding the porter badge number 1421 (theorized to represent 14Kt, 21Kt gold), the significance of which is expected to be revealed in the movie.
