Vetrimaaran directed Viduthalai Part 1 (2023) is a period crime thriller, that marked comedy actor Soori's debut as a lead. Actor Vijay Sethupathi plays a pivotal role in this story, and the movie's sequel Viduthalai Part 2, is one of the eagerly awaited films in Tamil cinema. 

It has now been officially announced that the Viduthalai Part 2 first look will release on July 17, 2024 (Wednesday), at 11: 30 AM. Both Viduthalai movies are a joint production venture of RS Infotainment, and Vetrimaaran's Grass Roots Film Company. The films have music by Ilaiyaraaja.
