Indian 2: Zero Tolerance is a sequel to Kama Haasan, Shankar's blockbuster hit Indian (1996) and is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on July 12, 2026. Lyca Productions, Red Giant Movies, the banners behind Indian 2 have now updated that the film will be releasing in Imax screens, giving Indian 2 a 'colossal upgrade' from just 2D screens release.

Set years after the first film, Indian 2 sees the return of Kamal Haasan as the freedom fighter tuned vigilante Senapathy, who in 2024 is a 106 years old. How and why Senapathy emerges from seclusion, to combat a new wave of injustice and corruption in India, is what forms the Indian 2 story.
Preetham Daniel, Vice President for IMAX Corporation in India, South East Asia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, took to X to reminisce the journey from when he watched Indian as a high school kid to the film's sequel Indian 2 coming to IMAX screens under his management.
I watched the first Indian film when I was in high school and we are so proud to have Indian 2 on IMAX. Kamal Hassan is iconic in many ways and this is a film that takes me back to my childhood !

Indian 2 is censored U/A, and comes with a runtime of 180.04 minutes i.e. 3 hours and 4 seconds. The movie's release will be followed by another sequel titled Indian 3, within the timeframe of the next 6 months.
