Coolie starring Rajinikanth in the lead is an upcoming Sun Pictures production written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Recently, rumours of the movie being shelved surfaced out of nowhere, and filmmaker Lokesh took to his X platform to shut down the same. Sharing a BTS image of himself with the Superstar, Lokesh Kanagaraj updated that Coolie begins shooting in  July, 2024 i.e. next month.

This picture of Rajinikanth, Lokesh Kanagaraj from the look test of Coolie has since gone viral on the internet. It is worth mentioning here that this isn't the first time rumours of Coolie getting dropped has floated the Tamil film circles.

Back when Coolie was just known by its tentative title Thalaivar 171, rumours of Lokesh Kanagaraj dropping out of the project had spread like wildfire, promoting Sun Pictures to make an official announcement about the movie. This time around, it is Lokesh who has put an end to baseless speculations.
