For years now it has been known that actor Suriya will be collaborating with director R. Ravikumar. Just like R. Ravikumar's directorials Ayalaan (2024) and Indru Netru Naalai (2015), the Suriya film is also expected to be a sci-fi outing, with Suriya playing a scientist in it.

Dream Warrior Pictures that had produced Suriya's NGK (2019), is expected to be backing the Suriya-R Ravikumar movie. And for at least two years now, it has been anticipated that the Suriya, R. Ravikumar movie will begin in 2024. 

Last month, MovieCrow had reported that Suriya, R. Ravikumar project is in early stages of production. Late Monday, Suriya officially announced that he is delaying his next project after Kanguva, which he had announced in October, 2023 as Puranaanooru. 

Since Vaadivaasal - another Suriya project in the pipeline, is slated to begin only after Vetrimaaran completes Viduthalai: Part 2,  it is likely that the Suriya- R. Ravikumar movie will become the actor's next after Kanguva i.e. Suriya 43.
