[Updated: April 10, 2024] Ghilli (2004) starring Vijay and Trisha in the lead is a cult hit Tamil movie. A remake of the 2003 Telugu blockbuster Okkadu (2003), Ghilli is one of those rare case scenarios where a remake film stands neck and neck in terms of the original's popularity and reception among cine audience.

We had previously reported about Ghilli's re-release in early 2024 and latest we hear, the movie is all set to hit theater screens in April, 2024. An official announcement on Ghilli's re-release date is currently awaited.

Highest grossing Tamil film of its year, Ghilli revolves around how a one-man-army (Vijay) combats an eccentric villain (Prakash Raj) against all odds, as he tries to save a helpless girl (Trisha) from the villain's clutches. 

The comedy action is based on Okkadu director Gunashekar's story, and has screenplay, direction by Dharani and dialogues by Bharathan. Also starring Ashish Vidyarthi, Tanikella Bharani, Janaki Sabesh, Jennifer (then tween artist), Dhamu, Mayilsamy, Nagendra Prasad among others, Ghilli has Vidyasagar for music, S. Gopinath, late KV Anand (for one song) for cinematography,  Rocky Rajesh for stunts, Raju Sundaram for choreography and B. Lenin, VT Vijayan for edits.  

Ghilli is a production venture of Sri Surya Movies and comes with a runtime of 166 minutes i.e. 2 hours 46 minutes.
