Back in 2016, a project titled Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK) was announced to be directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth as her second film, but the project did not end up taking off . Titled after a line from a 1962 hit song, Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam was later revealed to be a script of actor Dhanush by Soundarya herself [Soundarya Rajinikanth and Dhanush collaborated on VIP 2 instead of NEEK back then].

7 years later, Dhanush has revived NEEK as his third directorial, and a first look poster of the same was also unveiled recently.  NEEK marks the debut of Dhanush's nephew Pavish V who plays lead in the movie. He is paired opposite former child actor Anikha Surendran. 

Touted to be a 'usual love story', NEEK also stars Priya Varrier, Mathew Thomas, Rabiya Khatoon, Ramya Ranganathan, Venkatesh Menon among others. Senior actor Sarath Kumar plays an important role in the film. 

Kasthoori Raja and Vijayalakshmi Kasthoori Raja (Dhanush's parents) are producing Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam for the actor, director's home banner Wunderbar Films. The technical crew of this film includes GV Prakash for music, Leon Britto for cinematography and GK Prasanna for edits.
