Mostly Mediocre with a Satisfying Finale!
There are moments to attract the youth. Otherwise it is a formulaic flick which offers limited fun and needs more finesse in writing to hold well. Plenty of scenes are overdone both in terms of directorial approach and acting that appear to be cringe.(more)

A pleasant no-frills love story that mixes old school with new cool
NEEK is a different genre for Dhanush, the director, who touches upon romance of a different kind in this film. He's done blossoming of love and mature romance in his debut, Pa Paandi. He's done young and unabashed romance in his sophomore directorial, Raayan. He's done younger and even more unabashed romance in NEEK. Dhanush has fun with the genre, and seemingly pushes the boundaries of right and wrong, but never really goes the full extent. As in, there are Selvaraghavan territories that the film skirts around, but Dhanush doesn't really go deep into it, because he doesn't want to. Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam isn't a Selva film it is a Dhanush film(more)

A romcom that's breezy but stops short of stirring our hearts
NEEK is further proof that Dhanush had solid filmmaking skills and can flit between diverse genres with ease. It' just that the film, to paraphrase a line from it, is likeable but stops short of being loveable.(more)

Mathew Thomas steals the show in Dhanush's rocky rom-com
NEEK might be Dhanush's weakest directorial but has enough to show glimpses of his prowess as a filmmaker and given that his next as a director is titled Idly Kadai, let's hope he's cooking something more appetising.(more)

Dhanush's moon-aimed mission is half successful
NEEK's climax could either bring down the roof or make you think, why? But, the film's non-judgemental stance and hilarious one-liners make it a passable affair.(more)
