Theaters in Tamil Nadu (TN) have been in the news for the past few days with respect to booking and screening Leo which releases worldwide tomorrow i.e. October 19, 2023 [Thursday]. Starring Vijay in the lead, Leo is the actor's second release of the year and the gangster action thriller has generated quite the buzz as with all Vijay movies in TN. 

Though Leo bookings opened in Tamil Nadu from October 15, 2023 several theater chains had not signed an agreement to screen Leo with their respective region distributors. This is because while some theaters had taken on Leo with a very high distributor share of upto 80%, others were trying to negotiate this percentage down. Especially since multiplex chains like PVR-INOX had signed Leo for their standard distributor share of 60%. 

Taking on a movie for upto 80% distributor share means theater owners i.e. the exhibitors only get to make profits off the remaining 20%. This alone stands testament to the growth of actor Vijay's market in Tamil Nadu, and the trust these theater chains have on 'brand Vijay' to rake in the profits.

It is worth mentioning here that most theater screens in Tamil Nadu have agreed to screen Leo with a high distributor share of 65%-80% as opposed to the standard 60%. They have also agreed to maintain this high share for week 2, when standard procedure reduces the percentage from week to week.
