Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) is one of actor Rajinikanth's upcoming projects which was officially announced in March this year. A production venture of Lyca Productions, the movie is set to be directed by TJ Gnanavel, with Anirudh for music. Based on true events, Thalaivar 170 is said to also star Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan in a parallel lead role, with Rajinikanth playing a Muslim police officer. 

Latest news on this project is that Thalaivar 170, will begin shooting on Vinayagar Chaturthi which falls on September 19, 2023. Mollywood actors Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Tollywood's Rana Daggubati are also said to be on-board though an official confirmation on the same awaits. Thalaivar 170 plans to release in theaters in 2024.
