Jailer starring actor Rajinikanth in the lead is a Nelson Dilipkumar directorial that released in theaters on August 10, 2023. The movie which is a action-comedy is one of the most successful releases of Tamil cinema this year, and it is still running to packed shows in theater screens. At this time, word is out that Jailer's OTT release date on Sun Nxt and Netflix streaming platforms is September 7, 2023 [Thursday]. An official announcement on the same however awaits.

//September 2, 2023: Update// - Jailer's OTT release date has been officially confirmed and the film will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada languages.

Also starring Vinayakan, Shivarajkumar, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Telugu actor Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Master Rithvik, Mirnaa Menon among others, Jailer is about how a retired cop who is forced to relive his 'glory days', after a series of incidents involving the missing and death of his cop son. 

The movie is a production venture of Sun Pictures and has Anirudh for music. The Delhi High Court recently ordered the makers of the film to remove a scene where a contract killer wore the Indian Premiere League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)'s jersey, and made misogynistic remarks to a female character onscreen.

"With effect from 1st September, 2023, in the theatrical depiction of the film Jailer the RCB team jersey shall stand edited/altered. The Defendants shall ensure that after 1st September, 2023, none of the theatres would exhibit the RCB jersey in any form whatsoever. Insofar as television, satellite or any OTT platform is concerned, prior to the release thereof, the altered version of the film shall be broadcasted/telecasted,” - Delhi Court on Jailer Vs RCB

RCB objected to this in the court and now Jailer has been ordered to remove the jersey depiction, that was used without formal permission by September 1, 2023. It is worth mentioning here that Sun Network, parent company of the banner behind Jailer also owns an IPL team named Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH).
