Nelson Dilipkumar directed Jailer starring Rajinikanth in the lead in an upcoming action-comedy that is all set to release in theaters from August 10, 2023. The movie is currently gearing up for a trailer release, and word has it that the video will hit YouTube on August 2, 2023, just 8 days before the film comes out worldwide. An official announcement on the same however awaits.

[Update: August 2, 2023] Jailer showcase will release today at 6 PM. 

Jailer is Rajinikanth's first film in the last 1 year and 8 months. The movie, a production venture of Sun Pictures will see Rajinikanth play Muthuvel Pandian - a retired jailer. Actress Ramya Krishnan plays Rajinikanth's wife, while actor Vinayakan plays the main antagonist.  Tamannaah Bhatia will be seen as a Telugu actress in the movie, which also stars Shivarajkumar as Narasimha, Jackie Shroff,  Mohanlal as Mathew in a cameo appearance, Vasanth Ravi as Rajinikanth's son, Yogi Babu among others. 

Jailer, censored U/A is also releasing in dubbed versions of Telugu, Hindi (as Rajini: The Jailer), and comes with a runtime of 2 hours 48 minutes 59 seconds. The technical crew of the movie includes Anirudh for music. Vijay Karthik Kannan for cinematography, Jani Master for choreography and R. Nirmal for edits.
