It is well known that Sun Pictures backed out of Rajapattai last week. This drastic move had surprised many people in the Industry because it is uncommon for Sun Pictures to step out of a movie that is getting excellent pre-release talk. A number of reasons were speculated and one of them is strongly believed to be the cause.

The story of Rajapattai hinges on the land grab issues afflicting the state. When the edited portions of the movie was watched by the key decision makers, there were big concerns about the main villain character's uncanny similarities to a prominent politician from down South. By procuring and releasing the movie, it was believed that this may re-kindle the family feud that has been buried for some time now. So, this media powerhouse backed out of the deal at the same speed they got in.
