Actor Vijay's upcoming movie Leo is touted to be the third film in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's LCU franchise. The movie scheduled to release on October 19, 2023 is said to be a gangster thriller and a prequel to Kamal Haasan's Vikram (2022), which inturn is a sequel to Karthi's Kaithi (2019) in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. 

While Leo has been hinted to continue the drug saga of the LCU, latest buzz suggests that Vijay is named after a real life infamous mobster in the movie. Word has it that Vijay's character is named 'Daniel Leo' in the film, after the Italian-American mafia boss Danny Leo aka Leo. An official confirmation on the same is however awaited. 

Produced by 7 Screen Studio, Leo also stars Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan among others and has Anirudh for music. Vijay is also said to be appearing in dual roles in the movie, though it remains to be seen if they are two different appearances of the same character or a double appearance by Vijay.
