Previously we had reported that Vignesh Shivan will no longer be directing AK 62, actor Ajith's next project with Lyca Productions. While a delay in script finalizing was said to be the reason, Vignesh Shivan was expected to return directing AK 63; Seemingly this will not be the case. As if to confirm his dropped script, Vignesh Shivan has liked a tweet which sends cryptic signals regarding this development.

On the other hand, buzz has it that Lyca productions who had plans of producing AK 62 on massive budget of Rs. 220 Cr. have currently brought director Magizh Thirumeni on board. While an official announcement on the same awaits, it remains to be seen if composer Anirudh continues to be part of the project.
The post-theatrical OTT rights of AK 62 are with Netflix. The film is being planned as a Diwali, 2023 release and is most likely to meet Vijay's Thalapathy 67 at the box-office.
