Actor Ajith's next is a bank heist thriller titled Thunivu which is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor's Bay View Projects and Zee Studios. While it was anticipated that Zee 5 will bagging the OTT and satellite rights of the film [as they did with Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022)] buzz is that Netflix and Kalaignar TV has bought Thunivu's digital and TV rights. It is also being said that the deal has been locked for a whopping market price.
Update [October 28, 2022]: A new poster of Thunivu officially confirms details on the OTT, satellite rights. Additionally, the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the Ajith starrer has been bagged by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The movie is releasing for Pongal, 2023 i.e. in January next year.
Thunivu stars Manju Warrier as the film's female lead and the actress along with Ajith was recently spotted flying to Bangkok, for the film's final schedule. Shooting of Thunivu plans to wrap by October 20, 2022 and a third look poster is expected for Diwali which follows that date.
Update [November 19, 2022]: The overseas theatrical rights of Thunivu has been bagged by Lyca Productions, the banner producing Ajith's next movie AK 62. The movie will be distributed overseas in association with Tentkotta, the US-based premiere legal streaming platform.
Thunivu's release date awaits official announcement.
