Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu: 'Tamil cinema hasn't seen a gangster story like this'

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (VTK) is director Gautham Menon's first two-part gangster movie and Part 1 the kindling is all set to release in theaters tomorrow i.e. September 15, 2022. The filmmaker who has made movies mostly from a cop-point-of-view, for the first time has a reluctant henchman for a hero; VTK is all about this character's struggles, his journey into the world of violence, his grappling of the new world among other things. 

 

Ahead of the film's release Gautham Menon has said, "After reading Jeyamohan's short story that had an open ending, I wanted to know where it was going. I wondered if it could go into the space of a gangster tale that we haven't seen much of in Tamil cinema," 

 

B. Jeyamohan who has penned for VTK, had previously stated that the film will be a slow-paced action journey following the life of Silambarasan TR's character Muthuveeran. Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu: Part 1 The Kindling also has Siddhi Idnani, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Neeraj Madhav, Siddique, Aangelina Abraham among others.

 

The movie is produced by Vels Film International and has AR Rahman for music, Siddhartha Nuni for cinematography and Anthony for edits. Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies is presenting the film in Tamil Nadu.
