The shooting of Rajinikanth's upcoming movie Jailer recently began at Chennai and it has now been revealed that Mollywood actor Vinayagan will be playing Rajini's villain in the movie. In March this year during the promotions of his Malayalam film Oruthee, Vinayagan landed in a controversy with the way he addressed a female journalist.

He had said during a presser that if asking a person for sexual favours meant #MeToo, then he has done it. Stating that if he wants to have a sexual relationship he would directly ask, Vinayagan pointed fingers at the journalist and said that he would even ask her for it.

Given his past arrest record for using obscene and abusive words towards a woman, this incident did not go down well for the actor despite Vinayakan's apology to the journo and his retraction in June, 2022 when he said, 

“Why is such a big crime being trivialised with a silly name like ‘MeToo’? It is a monstrous crime as per the Indian law. What is #MeToo? Physical and emotional abuse, right? I have not abused any individual like that. Vinayakan would never stoop to such a low. If this is the kind of ‘MeToo’ that you accused me of having been a part of, I have not done anything of that sort.”

Jailer is a Nelson Dilipkumar directorial and a Sun Pictures production. Comedian Yogi Babu has also been revealed to be a part of the film, which has Anirudh for music.
