Viruman Songs - Music Review

Ramesh S Kannan

Viruman is an upcoming Tamil movie directed by Muthiah with Karthi and Aditi Shankar in the lead. Muthiah collaborated with various composers for all his movies from the debut Kutti Puli and strictly all the albums are set in the rural town. Muthiah roped in Yuvan Shankar Raja for Viruman and Let's see how well this album has turned out.

Kanja Poovu Kannala

Yuvan ropes in Sid Sriram, the season's favorite and delivers him the tune surprisingly devoid of any high-pitch portions. The simple tune and the groovy rhythm with Karumathur Manimaran's lyrics make this one an enjoyable track till it lasts. The interludes dominated by flute gel well with the gentle tune of the main melody.

Madura Veeran

Madura Veeran turns more interesting for the folky tune and Aditi Shankar's vocals, Though not sure whether her vocals are processed but the tune is adequately enticing and Srivardhini's harmonies are peppered intermittently. Yuvan shows promise in arrangements, especially with Napolean's flute solos.

Vaanam Kidukidunga

Vaanam Kidukidunga is a mandatory high-energy percussion-dominated track sprightly rendered by Muthusirpi. The tune is a completely perfunctory one that fails to elevate from the subpar level despite celebratory arrangements and rendition.

Bottomline

Yuvan's Viruman is short and laced with folk sounds that work for its two listenable melodies.
