Chiyaan 61 (tentative title) is actor Vikram's upcoming movie with director Pa. Ranjith that kickstarted recently with a pooja ceremony event. Chiyaan 61 is a period drama set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka and it is about working class miners who discover gold in the 19th century India. Director Pa. Ranjith confirmed at the event, that the movie is based on real life incidents that took place during the British empire.

Additionally the filmmaker also added that Chiyaan 61 will have elements of both magical realism and raw showcasing of those KGF miners' lives. Chiyaan 61 is a direct Tamil movie produced by KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green. The film has been planned on a massive budget and reportedly will be shot simultaneously in 3D as well. 

GV Prakash is composing music for Chiyaan 61 and the movie's shooting is expected to begin in August, 2022.
