Actor Vijay's Beast is gearing up for a worldwide release on April 13, 2022 and once the trailer of the movie was unveiled, the film faced a ban in Kuwait, the middle eastern country. Portrayal of Muslims as terrorists and the anti-Pakistan sentiment was given out as the reason, and now another country from the region - Qatar has followed suit.
This isn't the first time a Tamil movie has been banned in the middle east. Previously Vishnu Vishal, Gautham Menon starrer FIR was also blocked from releasing owing to portrayal of Muslims as terrorists. Interestingly, both times the Tamil Nadu Muslim league, an islamist outfit from Vijay's home-state stood by the decision of these countries.
"I am a firm believer (of God). I go to Church and get a good feel. Not just that I visit Pillayar (Vinayagar) temples, other (Hindu) temples. During the shooting of Kaththi, I went and visited Ameen Peer Darga (a place of Islam worship). I get the same divine feel whether it is a church or temple or Darga." - Vijay during his recent Sun TV interview
Just a few days ago, they wrote a letter to Tamil Nadu's home secretary stating, "Tamil films often show Muslims as the fundamentalists and the main cause of all communal problems." They wanted the matter looked into as an issue.
