Beast Trailer - First Impression Report

The trailer of Beast, actor Vijay's upcoming movie with director Nelson Dilipkumar dropped earlier this evening and the video has not just left fans crooning, "meaner, leaner, stronger, can you feel the power, terror, fire?" but also over the moon with what was shown. A first impression report of the Beast trailer here:

Rarely-touched Themes

Beast trailer revealed that Vijay plays a spy and a notorious one at that. Last time Tamil cinema saw a leading star play an efficient spy was in 2013 (Vishwaroopam). However Beast is not a spy-thriller instead a survival movie. How RAW agent Veeraraghavan with a penchant for not abiding by the rules makes it out of a mall under hostage along with the rest of the captives, while tackling terrorists on the inside and mediators on the outside is what Beast seems to be about.

Suave Vijay & Slick Action

It is evident from the trailer that Vijay is showcased in two-different scenarios.  In both, the actor looks suave, stylish and oozes swag even in dialogue delivery. Vijay is also seen performing some slick action moves and stunt choreography duo Anbariv seem to have quite the treat in store for Beast viewers.

Anirudh & Other Technicals

"The screen will be on fire, crackers will explode, the army will be jittery if one man comes" goes the lyric of Beast third single as revealed in the trailer; this line holds true not just for Vijay's Veera character but for Anirudh's music as well, since it serves as a strong-backbone for Beast. Anirudh has definitely stepped up his game from Doctor for Beast.

In addition to the music and action choreography (mentioned above), Beast also comes across as strong in technical aspects like cinematography (Manoj Paramahansa) and VFX.

Bottomline

Overall, the nearly 3 minute video of Beast trailer was entertaining and all that one expected. With its Hollywood-style production and more than promising content, Beast will hopefully break the trending concern of cinephiles about why 'Tamil films are not magnum opuses'.
