Seems movie theaters in Tamil Nadu are as unclear about the release of Ajith's Valimai as the general audience and media. Valimai scheduled to come out on January 13, 2022 (Thursday) was expected to back out like other big budget Pongal releases, owing to night curfews and Sunday lockdowns in Tamil Nadu.
[As reported by MovieCrow before, the makers were ready to release the movie to 50% occupancy in theaters but curfews was expected to cause postponement]

Instead Valimai makers have been busy sending out paper ads and movie theater standees with no change in release date. While it is being maintained that Valimai is very much on track despite the new COVID curbs, it is also being said that a clear decision on Valimai's release will be made only post January 10, 2022.
