Annaatthe Preview - SWOT Analysis

After surviving multiple health scares and two years of the pandemic, Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to storm the theaters screens tomorrow (November 4, 2021) as Annaatthe. Here's a quick SWOT analysis of the film, which is the actor's sixth in his consecutive plan of one-movie-a-year. 

Strengths

• Even at 70, the popularity and fan-following Rajinikanth enjoys among the South cine audience is unmatched. This comes mighty handy for Annaatthe which not only uses the mass formula, but is strong in nativity appeal with its family, emotional connect.

• The movie boasts of a star ensemble which appeals to the current generation (Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara) as well as invokes yesteryear nostalgia (Meena, Khushbu).

• Imman's music is another major score for Annaatthe. Definitely something to look forward to on the big screen. 

Weakness

• This isn't the first time director Siva has combined a major star, brother-sister sentiment and Kolkatta as the backdrop. Though Annaatthe is poles apart from the director's previous work, comparisons seem inevitable.

Opportunities

• Annaatthe is one of those lucky movies which is opening to 100% seating capacity in this pandemic era. The film comes out during one of the biggest holiday weekends in India - a bright spot for setting the cash registers ringing.

• The movie has been ensured a wide overseas release, where it faces little to no competition.

Threats

• Too many familiar names with limited screen-time, is a risky formula used by Tamil movie makers. It remains to be seen how Siva has tackled this aspect.

• Though Siva is known for delivering hit movies with lengthy run-times, Annaatthe at 2 hours 43 minutes seems like a gamble. 

The first day first show of Annaatthe begins as early as 4: 30 AM in India and 3:30 AM IST in the USA. The film is releasing in 650+ screens in Tamil Nadu and 1119+ theaters overseas.
