Actor Vijay Sethupathi has now officially announced that his upcoming movie Laabam which also stars Shruthi Haasan in the lead will be releasing in theaters for Vinayagar Chaturthi on September 9, 2021. The Tamil movie will be facing Kanganan Ranaut, Aravind Swami starrer Thalaivii at the box-office and potentially some other movies too.

Written and directed by SP Jananathan, Laabam is about how how the industrial and corporate sectors of society plunder agricultural resources for their own benefits. The movie has Vijay Sethupathi playing an activist who fights for farmers' rights and has D. Imman for music.
