Loki Episode 5 unpacks the 'glorious purpose' and much more!

The penultimate episode of the six part Loki series premiered on Disney Plus Hotstar platform today and here is what one can expect from episode five of the OTT show:

Precedent (Previous Episodes Recap)

God of Mischief Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is captured by an entity called the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and turned into a variant- prisoner. He comes face to face with the Goddess of Mischief, a lady version of himself and gets entangled in her pursuit to dethrone the TVA.

At the end of episode 4, Loki is 'pruned' and instead of instant death faces abandonment on a unknown location.

Episode 5 (Spoilers ahead)

Loki finds himself waking in some sort of garbage dimension where variants who get pruned at the TVA go to. Here they have to survive a cloud-monster named Alioth who stands between them and the true creator of TVA.  Loki finds out that the only survivors are various versions of himself and Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, Alligator Loki and the old Loki (classic Loki) take him to their hideout.

In a mission to find the true-ruler of the TVA, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) prunes herself and with the help of Mobius (Owen Wilson) escapes Alioth. Mobious ends up returning to TVA with the temp pad Sylvie stole from Judge Renslayer while Sylvie, Loki and old Loki (Richard E Grant) try to enchant Alioth to get to the end of the time-void (where they expect the true ruler of TVA to be).

However highlight of this extremely exciting episode were the cameos - the fight between President Loki and his minions, Throg and his Mjollnir hammer and the Thanos helicopter from the comics.

Characters to Watch Out For

Now that Judge Rensalyer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) has been ruled out as the main baddie, theories are flooded that Miss Minutes, the clock shaped AI mascot voiced by Tara Strong could have a role in running the TVA. According to internet assumptions, the Time-Keepers may have existed at one time and Miss Minutes assumed charge in their name.

Going by the choice of mindless androids as TVA faces, it is not too far fetched to think that the AI villain could have enlisted variants and wiped their memory to run the organization by proxy.
