The Tamil film industry is in mourning as veteran producer RB Choudhary has passed away following a car crash in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The cause of the accident and the condition of others involved remain unknown at this time.
RB Choudhary had been producing films since 1988 under his Super Good Films banner. His Tamil production journey began with Pudhu Vasantham, which marked the directorial debut of Vikraman and earned the producer a Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He also backed the directorial debut of KS Ravikumar with Puriyada Pudir.
Over the decades, his banner went on to produce a remarkable slate of films including Cheran Pandiyan, Oor Mariyadhai, Gokulam, Nattamai, Poove Unakkaga, Sundara Purushan, Mr Romeo, Suryavamsam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham, Keerthi Chakra, Jilla, Godfather, and most recently Maareesan. He also backed well-received films starring Sarath Kumar, Vijay, and Venkatesh.
Beyond his productions, RB Choudhary's legacy includes introducing several talents to Tamil cinema — actor Livingston, and directors Rasu Madhuravan, S Ezhil, Perarasu, and Rajakumaran.
His passing marks the end of an era for Tamil cinema. May he rest in peace.
