Actor Karthi is reportedly set to collaborate with Telugu director Kalyan Shankar, known for the Mad franchise. According to reports, the yet-untitled film is expected to go on floors this Friday at Ramoji Film City, with Meenakshi Chaudhary speculated as the female lead and Yogi Babu in a key role. Sithara Entertainments is said to be backing the project. An official announcement from the team is however awaited.

Kalyan Shankar made his feature debut with Mad (2023) and followed it up with Mad Square (2025). He has also written for films like Tillu Square and Hero and the Navarasa web series.

Karthi currently has a packed slate. He is presently filming Marshal, directed by Tamizh of Taanakkaran fame — a 1960s period drama featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Lal, John Kokken, and Eswari Rao, targeting a Diwali release. He also has Sardar 2 directed by PS Mithran ready and awaiting a release date. Reports of a reunion with director Pandiraaj under Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner have also surfaced, though official confirmation is pending.
