Just before the country went into lockdown in 2020 for the first time, a Tamil cop drama starring Prabhu Deva as lead was facing release issues in theaters. The movie titled Pon Manickavel was supposed to hit theater screens on March 6, 2020 but got postponed due to reasons unknown. 

Now it is being said that the makers of Pon Manickavel are in talks with a leading OTT platform for a direct digital release. An official deal is yet to be locked.

A Nemichand Jhabak production, Pon Manickavel is directed by AC Mugil and has Nivetha Pethuraj playing female lead. D. Imman has composed music for this movie.
