Ever since the elections in Tamil Nadu got over, there have been multiple reports of Kamal Haasan wanting to begin his new movie Vikram. After Kamal Haasan suggested director Lokesh Kanagaraj to make a few changes in the script, the actor pushed for pre-production to begin as soon as possible.

Latest is that cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan who worked with Lokesh in both Kaithi and Master has walked out of Vikram due to date issues. He has been replaced by the National award winning cinematographer Girish Gangadharan. Girish has previously worked in the Vijay starrer Sarkar in Tamil. 

Besides Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi, Vikram also has Malayalam actor Antony Varghese as a new cast member. Antony was previously approached for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Master but couldn't take up the offer due to scheduling conflicts.

Vikram is produced by Kamal's home banner Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI). The film has Anirudh for music.
