Movie Theaters in Tamil Nadu are currently not seeing any new movie releases owing to the second wave of COVID-19. They are also operating at only 50% occupancy from with 3 shows a day from Monday to Saturday. Meanwhile Tamil movies which are complete and awaiting release are resorting to OTT platforms.

Some of these movies have been officially announced to be making a direct OTT release, while others are in contention with talks being initiated with streaming partners. One of these movies Jagame Thandhiram which has been awaiting OTT release for a while now, even considered theatrical release briefly but the partial lockdown restrictions made the makers stick to their original Netflix release plan.

Thirukumaran Entertainment, a popular Tamil banner is also planning on releasing some of its productions directly on OTT. Details about these movies remain unknown as yet.
