The Madras High Court recently mediated a hearing on the longstanding feud between music composer Ilayaraja and Chennai based Prasad Studios stressing that both parties need to resolve their issues through mediation and not in public glare.
TL;DR The current head of Prasad Studios wants Ilayaraja to vacate the premises on his property which was allocated to the composer by former Prasad Studios' head, the late L.V. Prasad. Ilayaraja does not want to, as the space gifted in honour of his contributions to Tamil cinema had become his permanent working base over the years.
The chaos reached its optimum when lockdown was put in place and Prasad Studios used this period to have all of Ilayaraja's belongings packed.
Multiple police complaints, court hearings and suspicions of damage to property (musical instruments, notes) later, the Madras High Court has now suggested that Ilayaraja refrain from fighting with the building owners in court and Prasad Studios to act magnanimously towards the composer by resolving differences through counsel mediation.
