Wednesday came bearing unfortunate news for the Tamil TV audience, as it was reported that popular small-screen actress and video jockey, Chitra Kamaraj was found dead in a hotel room in Chennai. Chitra known as Chittu to her fans had checked into a hotel room around 1 am on Wednesday after completing a shoot.

Incidentally, a fellow colleague from the shooting spot had shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram [which Chitra had also re-shared] and it shows the Chitra being on the phone, her colleague teasing her for 'being busy in love' and Chitra playing along. 

The actress had also shared images from a photo-shoot around the same time, which was mere hours before her death. Chitra who rose to fame playing Mullai in the Vijay TV serial Pandian Stores was engaged to be married and had signed to to be a part of a Tamil film.

The police are currently investigating her death, which was first reported at 3.30 AM on Wednesday and a cause of death is yet to be declared.
