With film shootings now permitted by the government, Kollywood is slowly but surely planning to get back on track and among the movies that will resume shooting soon, is the Rajinikanth starrer Annaatthe. As Rajinikanth had requested not to resume shooting till 2021 after the outbreak of Coronavirus COVID-19, team Annaatthe plans to honour the same and the actor will not be joining the shoot this year. 

However scenes not involving the actor will be canned in the upcoming months and set-work has already begun at ECR, Chennai. Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara are expected to be shooting as well and the makers plan to work on the post-production of the scenes filmed, including the 50% Rajini shot for before the pandemic.

It is also being said that Sun Pictures is now aiming for a Tamil New Year release for the movie in April, 2021. A rural-based family entertainer, Annaatthe is directed by Siva and also stars Meena, Kushbhu, Prakashraj, Sathish and Soori among others. The film has music by D Imman.
