Actor Suriya's upcoming home production Soorarai Pottru is gearing up for a direct OTT release and the actor had announced that he will be donating Rs. 5 Cr. from the movie's sale to COVID-19 relief. Seems like he has dedicated Rs. 1.5 Cr. of this donation to the Tamil film industry's various official associations, as movies continue to be one of the worst hit economies during the pandemic. 

Suriya's actor father Sivakumar was seen handing over cheques to the heads of FEFSI, SIAA (Nadigar Sangam) and the newly formed producers' council and the amount to each of the associations was divided as follows:

• FEFSI - Rs. 80 lakh
• Directors' Union - Rs. 20 lakh
• Producers' Council - Rs. 30 lakh
• Nadigar Sangam - Rs. 20 lakh
