Arun Vijay, Prasanna starrer action-thriller Mafia - Chapter 1 directed by Karthik Naren of 'D16' fame which hit the screens this Friday has witnessed good opening in TamilNadu in its opening weekend. The story is a cat and mouse game between a drug lord (Prasanna) and Narcotics Bureau Officer (Arun Vijay). The film bagged mixed response from critics and audience. The critics felt that the film is high on style and low on substance. 

The pre-release hype generated by the film has helped Mafia to perform well at the Box Office. Mafia has collected Rs. 7.2 cr in 3 days in TN and which is the career highest opening for Arun Vijay. The gangster drama minted Rs. 1.23 cr in Chennai. The film is expected to continue its steady run in theaters in the coming days. Mafia has topped both Chennai and TN Box Office this weekend. 

Mafia produced by Lyca Productions has Priya Bhavani Shankar playing the female lead. The film's music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, while cinematography and editing is handled by Gokul Benoy and Sreejith Sarang respectively.
