Pattas which hit the screens for Pongal on January 9 has turned to be a profitable venture at the Box Office. Directed by RS Durai Senthilkumar, the film starring Dhanush, Sneha and Mehreen Pirzada in the lead roles opened to mixed response from critics and audience. The 5-day Pongal festival holiday weekend has helped the film rake in the moolah to a great extent. At the end of two weeks, the film has minted around Rs. 33.5 cr and has been declared 'Super hit' by trade sources. 

The film has successfully stepped into its third week and is still running in 80+ screens in Tamilnadu despite new releases Psycho and Daagalty. The film has been a profitable venture for the producers, distributors and exhibitors and can be termed as the first 'Hit' film this year. Dhanush who had a successful outing last year with Asuran has delivered his first hit in the beginning of the year. Pattas is bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films.

Dhanush's upcoming films include Suruli with Karthik Subbaraj and Karnan with Mari Selvaraj. He will also been in Bollywood film 'Atrangi Re' directed by Aanand L Rai where he will share the screenspace with Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan.
